Heat & Sun Considerations

Please note: The darker the color, the hotter the deck will feel in direct sunlight. For hotter climates, lighter colors or Trex Transcend® Lineage® with SunComfortable™ technology can help reduce surface temperature.

*Although Trex decking with heat-mitigating technology is designed to be cooler, on hot sunny days it will still get hot. Care should be taken to avoid extended contact between exposed skin and the deck surface, especially with young children.

Transcend® Lineage® FAQ

SunComfortable™ is Trex's heat-mitigating technology built into Transcend Lineage boards. It reduces surface temperature by up to 35°F compared to similar colors from other composite brands — making it noticeably cooler underfoot on hot days.

How many colors are available in Transcend Lineage?

Transcend Lineage comes in 7 colors: Biscayne, Carmel, Hatteras, Island Mist, Jasper, Rainier, and Salt Flat — all featuring a refined linear grain pattern.

Is Transcend Lineage more expensive than standard Transcend?

Transcend Lineage is priced similarly to standard Transcend, with a slight premium for the SunComfortable™ technology. Request a quote for exact pricing.

Does Lineage really stay cooler?

Yes, but with a caveat: on very hot sunny days, all decking materials will get warm. Lineage is designed to be cooler than standard composite boards of similar color, but care should still be taken with bare feet on the hottest days, especially with young children.
